Highly flammable fuels pose a significant risk of fire in parking areas. Hot engine components also represent a dangerous ignition source. Furthermore, parking areas are well ventilated and this constant flow of oxygen means that fires can break out very quickly.

If vehicle fuel tanks leak and fuel escapes, this could quickly give rise to a dangerous mixture of explosive gases. In most cases, this fire load is prevented through the installation of a sprinkler or water mist system. In new constructions, a fire alarm system with the corresponding detectors is also provided.

In winter months, parking areas are highly exposed to risks of frost. For this reason, every system must be designed as frost-proof. This can be carried out in the form of dry pipes or the addition of an anti-freeze mixture.
